That is roughly the thickness of three strands of hair layered together. Each strand of hair is less than 0.5 mm in diameter, and the piece includes more than 3,000 petals. It must be twisted into shape by two people working in tandem and fired in the kiln at the same time. Only under high heat can it remain separate without sticking or cracking.
